With our world filled with so much unknown right now, here at Hearne we’re doing what we can to focus on what we DO have and who we have it with. For me, owning a small business at this time is both a bit scary and a bit overwhelming, but one thing I can count on is the partnership with the small businesses we work with, the communities we serve (including all of you and Lwala), and the family I have sitting right beside me along the way. When I look at how connected and supportive y’all are, I think we really can survive this storm. And when I really look back in the rearview mirror to when my great-great-grandfather started Hearne Dry Goods Company in 1902, I’m inspired by the storms he weathered along the way (looking at you, Great Depression and Spanish flu). Thus, I encourage you to join me this week as we celebrate in collaboration with the small shops we work with in hopes of continuing to inspire you to give back, too, even as we all continue to ride these waves of uncertainty. Giving opens the heart, and why not open up our hearts when and where we can?!
