    Cheers to 5 years!
    Hey, Hearne Friends!
This month we're celebrating our 5-year Anniversary! Can you believe it? I’m still pinching myself!  And in case you didn’t know, here’s how it all began…

Since 2016, I have been handcrafting chic, statement jewelry that honors the past while supporting the future, one piece of jewelry at a time. I release two collections a year, each with a different theme. But our inspiration dates back beyond these five wonderful years that we've in business!

Years ago, I was inspired by my Aunt Florence who made me a bag made out of an old sail from my dad’s boat. When I saw this sentimental heirloom that I would cherish forever, I thought, “I can do something like this if she can!” In fact, this bag and my dad’s love for sailing both inspired the nylon straps, a signature touch to my collection.

I started making necklaces for myself as a creative outlet, but friends kept asking where I bought them. The requests began rolling in and piling up and, before I knew it, I found myself ready to start a business.

Because family is incredibly important to me, I decided to name my company after my great-great-grandfather’s business “Hearne Dry Goods Company," which was owned and operated by our family from 1902 to 1995 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In addition to family, giving back is at the center of our mission at Hearne Dry Goods Co. A portion of all proceeds goes to support Lwala Community Alliance (www.lwala.org), a tribute to my forefather’s commitment to fostering community both near and far. This community health clinic supplies resources for children and their mothers with nutrition, medicine, education, and clean water in Lwala, Kenya.

We’ve created a short video for you to watch. We thought it would be fun to look back over the last five years and highlight some of my favorite memories!

I’m so grateful to my friends, family, customers and employees for this wild and beautiful ride of owning a small business, and I look forward to the many more years and stylish collections to come!
    Xoxo,
    Leigh
